Sally is a Clinical Scientist with more than 16 years experience in the laboratory diagnosis of Lyme disease, working in the National Lyme Borreliosis Testing Laboratory, and now as deputy director in the recently established Scottish Lyme Disease and Tick-borne infection Reference Laboratory. During this time she has worked hard both to improve the service, utilizing in-house and commercial tests, and to collate epidemiological information on Lyme borreliosis in Scotland. Her research interests include developing diagnostic tests to differentiate patients with current infection from those infected with B. burgdorferi in the past. Sally is a member of the steering committee for ESGBOR, the ESCMID (European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) study group for Lyme borreliosis.
Sally serves as an international member on the Scientific Advisory Committee.
