Prameet Sheth

Dr. Prameet Sheth is a Clinical Microbiologist at the Kingston General Hospital. In his role at KGH, he oversees all the microbiological testing for patients that present to KGH and surrounding hospitals. He is also a Researcher and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology & Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University. Over the last three years he has developed a research program that is interested in infectious diseases. He has a MSc in Hematology from McMaster University and a PhD in HIV Immunology from the University of Toronto. He completed a Fellowship in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology at the University of Toronto.

 

Dr. Sheth is a Co-Applicant on the grant. Given their expertise and experience, he and his laboratory will facilitate with the storing and collecting patient specimens in the central biobank especially from Southeastern Ontario. His laboratory will also play a central role in culturing Borrelia burgdorferi from clinical specimens to enable the network to answer some seminal questions regarding the pathogenesis and the epidemiology of Borrelia species in the Kingston area.
