Pierre Sullivan

PhD, PEng, FCSME

Dr. Pierre Sullivan is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto. He earned his Bachelor“s and Masters in Engineering Sciences (Mechanical Engineering) at Clarkson University in New York. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University. He was named fellow of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering in 2012.

Dr. Sullivan is the Director at the Turbulence Research Lab. His research interests span flow phenomena, energy conservation and micro-scale electrohydrodynamics. A particular strength of his laboratory is the development of digital microfluidic tools using high-sensitivity capacitive methods of detection with sample preparation steps. The technology has been proven and would benefit from statistical validation and interaction with clinical partners. It has the potential to be applied in the context of Lyme disease.

Dr. Sullivan is a Co-Applicant on the grant. He will participate in activities related to novel methods for detection and diagnosis (Pillar 1).
