Alex Carignan

MD, MSc, FRCPC

 

Dr. Alex Carignan is a Medical Microbiologist and Infectious Disease Consultant at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke. He is also an  Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Infectiology at the Université de Sherbrooke where he is involved in supervising and teaching predoctoral students and residents in the microbiology and infectious diseases program.  He completed his MD at the Université  de Montréal and specialized in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Université de Sherbrooke. He has also completed a MSc in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Carignan is the President of the Nosocomial Bacteraemia Working Group and the Québec Immunization Committee at the Institut National de Santé Publique du Québec(INSPQ).

 

Dr. Carignan is a Co-Applicant on the grant and will be involved the Québec Biobank and Cohort as well as in clinical science and health services research (Pillar 3). He is located in a Lyme disease high risk area and has treated several Lyme patients in clinical practice. As part of the proposed Network, he will provide on-the-ground perspective and access to patient samples from his laboratory.
